Tobacco Litigation

The actions of the tobacco companies in concealing the hazards of smoking cigarettes is, quite simply, the most heinous industrial conspiracy in American history. Cigarette smoking leads to the death of 400,000 Americans every year. Smoking-related diseases account for one of every five deaths in this country. Since the early 1950's, when it was medically established that smoking caused lung cancer, some 20 million Americans have died as a result of tobacco use.

The conspiracy engaged in by the tobacco companies is fully established through internal industry documents, all of which are a matter of public record. Nevertheless, past plaintiffs and their tobacco litigation attorneys have seldom been successful in litigation against the tobacco industry. The industry has unlimited funds which it uses to defend itself and has never settled a suit brought by or on behalf of an individual smoker.

Despite the challenges posed by litigating against the tobacco companies, we have decided to pursue tobacco litigation. Unfortunately, we cannot represent every smoking victim. If you or a loved one is sick or has died as a result of smoking cigarettes, find out if your potential case merits further evaluation by return our online smoking victim questionnaire. After our review, we will let you know if we feel we can be of assistance to you or your family.

The injury and death cased by tobacco is not limited to lung cancer and other diseases. In fact, cigarettes are also the nation's leading cause of fatal fires. Even though the technology has existed for years to enable the tobacco companies to make fire-safe cigarettes, the industry has resisted and smoldering cigarettes still account for about one-quarter of fire fatalities. We believe the tobacco industry should be held accountable for this death and destruction, which could have been prevented.

Finally, a whole class of blameless victims exists which have suffered injury or death due to the smoking habits of someone else. These victims include those exposed to second-hand smoke and fetuses who have been exposed to tobacco in utero due to their mothers' smoking.
