The Boston Globe reported that on Thursday, September 20th, a 24-year-old North Attleboro woman was killed, allegedly by a drunk male driver. Police arrived at the collision scene (North Main Street, near Wamsutta Road) at approximately 10:27pm to find evidence of a head-on crash. Attleboro police said that the two drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles, and each had to be pulled from their cars by firefighters.

Based on witness testimony and current police investigation, Jason Kwolek, 32, from Pawtucket, R.I., was driving a 2006 Jeep southbound, crossed over the center lines and crashed into the other car. The female victim in the other vehicle was driving a 2002 Saturn northbound on North Main Street when she was hit head-on. According to police reports, Kwolek was transported to Sturdy Hospital in Attleboro and then to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Attleboro police sought a warrant arrest for Kwolek under the charges of motor vehicle homicide under the influence of alcohol, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and marked lanes violation. He was later arrested by Rhode Island State Police and charged him with being a fugitive from justice based on the Attleboro charges
Truck and car crashes unfortunately are a fact of life. Although we hope of course that we and our loved ones will not be involved in any incidents on the roads, it is important to understand your rights should such an accident occur. The first step is knowing whether or not you even have grounds to file a claim for your injuries. The question whether the accused party was indeed negligent must be examined carefully before filing a claim. The facts of each individual case can be quite complex, requiring sifting through accident reconstructions, police reports, and insurance policies, among other inquiries. The accident scene should be investigated, coordinated (when necessary) with a proper team of professionals and experts, examining all evidence.
