On Monday, August 9, 2010, a man was struck and killed by an MBTA van in Norwood, Massachusetts. The 51-year-old man was crossing the street when he was hit by “the RIDE” MBTA van, which takes people to different MBTA stops.
The man was pronounced dead at Norwood hospital. The van was operated by a 62-year-old man who was removed as a driver pending the completion of the investigation.
Apparently, the 51-year-old man stepped off the curb just prior to the collision. Currently, police are investigating the incident, and charges have not been pressed against the driver of the van.
